I have been a member of Hot or Not, the popular face rating website for about a year now. My rating on there is 9.6 out of 10, which I am very happy with. Father’s Day and SEO

So, Father’s day has come and gone. I have the unfortunate situation of my father’s birthday being the day before mine and two day’s before father’s day. So my meagre pocket gets hit twice in a matter of days.

My father is an extreme environmentalist, as I am myself. Despite being 61, he bikes everywhere, which totals to about 80 hours a week. Quite impressive, huh? He is also an avid recycler. He recycles pretty much everything. So I decided to try and find somewhere online that sells produce that is ethical and environmentally friendly. After about half an hour of searching, I came across a site selling thank you gift baskets. The company, All About Gift Baskets displays on their homepage that they are supporters of the Millennium Promise, whom my father’s employer were also twisted into supporting. The group have the aim of ending extreme poverty in Africa by 2025. That was enough to sway me, I bought the Thank You Gift Sampler, which arrived in a couple of days.

recently I moded my Firefox chrome to highlight all nofollow link red and give them a white dashed border. It has revolutionsed the way I see they web. The thing I have found most perplexing is the sites the nofollow al linksto their homepage or even more bizzare, all internal links. All About Gift Baskets have implemented a pretty good nofollow architecture though, by nofollowing pages such as the contact page and the cart, which people are unlikely to want to find via Google. Although, personally I like to have search engines index the contact page as I like to use it for geographic purposes and or quote search terms.

The other day I came across an SEO company that was offering something that I had never seen offered before - Free SEO. Well not quite. You only pay once your website has got to page one and if your rankings drop you stop paying until they can get your rankings back. I found the company quite by mistake by typing ‘no win no fee seo’ into Google. I thought, since there are lawyers who offer this service, might there be SEOs? Knowing the work that needs to go into a successful SEO campaign I thought not, but was proved wrong. The number one and two spot were occupied by a company called re-route.co.uk.Most of the other results were legal companies. I guess there just isn’t many no win, no fee companies out there.

I was looking for lyrics for some of my new favourite songs today, most are by Orko Eloheim and Odessa Kane. I didn’t have any luck, but I by chance stumbled upon a great Guitar Tablature website. I had seen a lot of tab sites when I was trying to learn the guitar when I was younger. There was a recuring theme with the content - GoogleAds all over the place, popups and thow annoying smiley ads. So I was surprised to see that GuitarWorld only have a small amout of tasteful targetting that looks like it is part of the site. Back in Mexico I worked on a study that showed that obtrosive advertisng is a major factor in people hitting the back button and not coming back. GuitarWorld have made a smart decision here and you could even arguee that their advertising ads quality to the site.

The design is the best one I have seen now I am not involved in web development anymore - I am no longer checking CSSRemix. They don’t seem to have a great selection now, but with the quality of the site and the user submission I can see this site becoming an authority on the subject. All of the tabs are checked for legal issues before they gon online, which shows these guys are not messing around and are looking to build a quality website.

Cheating To Loose Weight

I am proud to be one of the few people in the tech industry I know of to be ridiculously fit. You usually expect tech guys to be little scrawny things with glasses and greasy hair, but I just happend to be what all the girls are looking for ;). My favorite sport is football, but in the Winter I don’t really enjoy playing it so much. Although I still do a lot of biking. With this in mind I got myself a Wii and a copy of WiiFit. The game is fun and very interactive. I havethe luxury of large living quaters which really makes playing the game a lot of fun. It’s a game that really could have a long lifetime, although I am not sure about stargin at the TV while excercising. It just seems a bit wrong. Anyway, I was out on the internet looking for some cheat or easter eggs for the game. I had trouble finding them, but eventually found some on GamesRadar’s Cheat Codes page.
